i know the reality of the world
but for my sanity the fantasy shall remain
grieved by the hunger enshrined
and the dead and rotten raised for the divine
fastidious gods fed by drunken knaves
solicitous and blind to the slaves
corrupt lords & dead ladies
crimson rivers and smothered babies
i know the reality of the world
but for my sanity the fantasy shall remain
the plagued subterfuge in ideologies
the scrofula metastasising minorities
“victims” killing and victims betrayed
on the hill top men that bled blue slayed
all while the leader feigned and prayed
a surreptitious knife in the back
trapped in the cul-de-sac
ostracised; if the views don’t meet
black balled; if you don’t baa like sheep
i know the reality of the world
but for my sanity the fantasy shall remain
the train could have been boarded
a run to the other world, if needed
the sailor would not have drowned
still at the helm till there came no sound
serendipity favours those that take the leap
not sound and relaxed when they sleep
evangelic to the values abound
a clown to the crowd but without a sound
last leaf on the tree
a dying woman’s plea
See?
I know the reality of the world
But for my sanity the fantasy shall remain
